ThreeZero Transformers War for Cybertron Optimus Prime Preview

ThreeZero DLX Transformers Optimus Prime

The new Optimus Prime DLX Collectible Figure Series from Hasbro and ThreeZero available starting July 24th. Optimus Prime is the first character in the DLX Transformers line. You can still pre-order yours from Hasbro Pulse and the ThreeZero web store. It retails for $179.00

This figure is not a toy, and it doesn’t transform. This new line of ThreeZero Transformers figures are highly detailed and articulated statues that fans and the series can add to their homes or offices. This figure measures 10″ tall and gives the most realistic and accurate resemblance to the character seen in movies and animation.

This design is closest in resemblance to the original animated Optimus Prime with enough enhancements to give him a highly distinguished look. If you’ve watched the new animated Transformers: War for Cybertron series on Netflix, the models in that series also matches the original Transformers designs, which also matches this figure. DLX figures have a whopping 50 points of articulation. That means you can pose this in just about any configuration imaginable (except truck mode). The figure has a die-cast metal and plastic frame, which I think is incredible considering the original 80s toys were a combination of metal and plastic. Plus, the use of metal will give it a much more realistic look and feel since they are robots, after all.

ThreeZero DLX Transformers Optimus Prime Accessories

Accessories make it better

The DLX Optimus Prime comes with multiple accessories as well to help add to each pose or setup. Included accessories are Ion Blaster, Energon Axe, Energon Shield, five pairs of interchangeable hands, and a DLX Action Stand for various expressive poses. The eyes and chest windows are also both LED illuminated. I think this feature will look beautiful in a low lit environment. It would have been even better if the action stand had some uplighting as well.

My thoughts

I think this collectible figure is fantastic for what it is. Yes, the price is high. But, it’s not Sideshow Collectibles high, and it’s a collectible statue with incredible detail that hits all the nostalgia notes for me. Everything about this new figure looks incredible. The colors look great. The use of a die-cast metal frame is perfect. You could buy a leader or deluxe version that transforms, but the level of detail here is much higher. The plastic toys look great, but they don’t look this great.
