It’s no surprise one of the coolest toys we’ve seen the past few months is the new 6″ Han Solo in Carbonite. We didn’t get one when the first went on sale through the Hasbro Pulse website. But we did manage to get a couple from Amazon, which looks to be the only place these are available for order. That’s the good news. The bad news is they won’t arrive until December 17th, 2020. It will be a pleasant Christmas surprise when they do arrive.

A toy made for fans
This a toy that collectors or fans of the original Star Wars trilogy will appreciate the most. It comes with a display stand, so that tells you they designed this toy for fans. There isn’t much playability here unless you also have a Slave I and want to reenact Boba Fett loading Han onto his ship. As soon as I saw it, my childhood memories of these movies started playing back in my head. This image of Han Solo is so iconic and was part of the cliffhanger ending of The Empire Strikes Back. Leia reveals she loves Han. Luke finds out who his father is and loses a hand. Then, Han gets put on ice. Such a great movie.

If you have the extra coin, we recommend heading over to Amazon and picking up a copy, especially if you are a Star Wars fan. The price isn’t bad for the size and detail. It looks gorgeous in photos (when properly lit).
Another nice touch is the figure features the original Kenner branding. In my opinion, this is a double win for nostalgia points.
Final Thoughts
Are there any nitpicks? Sure, but just a few minor ones. You will notice some differences if you compare the image from the movie on the packaging versus the plastic figure. One is the depth of how much Han is poking out of the carbonite. The movie image shows Han to be pushed out farther on the surface of the carbonite. I would have liked to see a little more depth to match the movie imagery. This version feels a bit flat to the surface. It could also be the lighting, the angle shots show a little more depth.

Second, Han’s facial expression isn’t quite right. But how many action figures nail the resemblance? Again these are minor. I still think it’s a great addition to any toy collector’s shelf.
What do you think of this version of Han Solo in carbonite action figure? Hit or miss?
